Program Outline

This is a communication course with a difference for Education Support Staff. Words are at the heart of our communication in schools and by building our knowledge of words we become more powerful communicators with students, colleagues and parents. This course is presented by two women educators who are passionate about words, their origin, formation and power. Through ‘orthography’ they will demonstrate how to improve spelling, writing fluency, meaning and coherence in all of your communication. These ideas have worked with preschool children, primary and secondary students and adults.

ES staff who will be interested in this course include:

  • Administrative and clerical staff with responsibility for drafting letters, newsletters and all forms of written communication
  • Library staff who are looking for ideas to create or respond to the curiosity of students
  • Learning support staff (integration aides) who are working with students particularly ASD students who might have a fascination with words and language.

Presenter Profile
