Program Outline

This program focuses on supporting Education Support Staff to build their skills in managing difficult conversations. Difficult conversations can occur with students, parents and colleagues. It is important that ES staff have access to high quality training in conflict management, active listening and where required assertiveness. This enables ES staff to diffuse tense situations, focus on positive outcomes for everyone and reduce stress for themselves and others in the work environment.

This program will provide a clear framework for managing difficult conversations, practical approaches for each type of difficult conversation and lots of practice time to develop the skills.

Presenter Profile

Kaye Dennis is an education consultant who has been working in the area of communication skills and counselling for several years. A teacher by training she has worked in early childhood, primary and secondary settings. She is in demand across Victoria and interstate for her work on improving communication with colleagues, students and parents. Kaye has authored several books in the field of restorative justice and grief counselling.

This TDC program is only available to people who are members of the IEU. (If you are not a member click here to go to the IEU website and join your union)

IEU early bird fee is $150.00 for registration and payment before Tuesday 17th July 2018.

IEU regular fee is $200.00 for payments on or after Tuesday 17th July and by Friday 28th July 2018.
